定規で線を引くと、絵画は動き始める。
描き、消し、また描く。
線が線と触れあい繋がり始めると、意識もまた触れあい繋がっていく。
私の作品は、未知と既知の交差点に存在する。
「これを描きたかったんだな」と確信が持てる瞬間、それはかつて知らなかったイメージが、突然過去の記憶として蘇るような感覚に近い。その不意の出会いの本質を捉えるために、私は一本ずつ、線を引き続ける。
The painting takes on a life of its own the moment I lay down a line with a ruler. Through a cycle of drawing, erasing, and layering, my consciousness synchronizes with the canvas.
My work exists at the crossroads of the unknown and the familiar. It is the moment of realization: "This is it"—a memory of an image I never truly knew. I continue to draw, line by line, to capture the essence of that sudden encounter.

2026年4月4日より、美術作家・山岡敏明と画家・しまだそうによる展覧会「あれとこれをまがりなりにもそれした結果論」を開催いたします。
本展は、両名が約1年間にわたり二枚のキャンバスを互いに交換し、相手の絵の上に自らの筆跡を重ねる「往復書簡」のようなプロセスを経て完成させた新作とそれらにまつわるドローイング・ペインティング作品などを発表するものです。
山岡敏明の持つ独自の存在感と、しまだそうの線や造形. 一方が描いた意図をもう一方が解釈し、時には塗り潰し、時には生かしながら筆を置く。この1年に及ぶ「対話」と「侵食」の繰り返しは、個人の表現を超えた予測不可能な視覚的調和（あるいは不協和音）を生み出しました。
本展では、そのプロセスを経て到達した最終的な絵画作品二点を中心に両名の近作、新作、交換ドローイングなどを展示し、二人の画家の表現が交差する瞬間に迫ります。
近ごろ、美術作家の山岡敏明と画家のしまだそうが互いの絵を交互に上描きし、個人の想像を超えた表現を模索しています。
互いの筆跡を重ねる連鎖を通じて一人では到達し得ない必然の帰結としての新たな絵画の姿を追求する為にどうにかこうにかそれしています。

Starting April 4, 2026, 2kw gallery will present "Post-Hoc: This and That, Somehow Combined," a joint exhibition by artist Toshiaki Yamaoka and painter So Shimada.
For about a year, the two artists engaged in a process akin to "correspondence painting"—exchanging two canvases and layering their own marks over the other's work. This exhibition features the resulting new works along with related drawings and paintings.
The unique presence of Toshiaki Yamaoka and the geometric lines of So Shimada intersect as one interprets, sometimes overpaints, and sometimes enhances the intentions of the other. This year-long cycle of "dialogue" and "encroachment" has created an unpredictable visual harmony (or dissonance) that transcends individual expression.
The exhibition centers on the two final paintings reached through this process, alongside recent and new works and exchange drawings by both artists, capturing the moment their creative paths converge.
Recently, Yamaoka and Shimada have been exploring expressions beyond individual imagination by repeatedly overpainting each other's work, seeking a necessary conclusion that cannot be reached alone.

1983年 大阪生まれ
幼少期の憧憬を手掛かりとしながら、身の回りにある記号や画像を咀嚼し、絵画世界を探求している。
近年はより根源的な描画欲求に突き動かされながら、定規を用いた直線だけで描く”the HOLY GRAIL”シリーズに取り組んでいる。
また、大阪市内にて民家を改装した版画スタジオ兼展示スペース・cumonos＜クモノス＞を西嶋みゆきと共に運営。
他者の制作や作品発表とゆるやかに関わりながら、美術の周縁と生活との境目にて自身の居場所を探している。
1983, Born in Osaka.
Guided by childhood nostalgia and everyday imagery, I explore painting through a process of deconstruction and reinterpretation. My current series, "the HOLY GRAIL," is born from a fundamental impulse to create using only strictly ruled lines.
Alongside Miyuki Nishijima, I co-operate "cumonos"—a studio and exhibition space in Osaka. I search for a sense of belonging at the boundary where the margins of art meet the rhythms of everyday life.
